Q&A with Tyler Konersman of Tear Out the Heart

By Ryan Glaspell

At times melodic and irresistibly catchy, and others scorchingly heavy, Tear Out the Heart are making their way to The Main Street Cafe this Friday to kick off The Dead, Everywhere Tour. The tour, in support of their upcoming album, Dead, Everywhere, will mark the first time the Victory Records metalcore outfit has came to Clarksburg.

The band will be receiving local support from Portrayer, Mandalorian, Ivory Coast and Tell No Tales. This show also marks Portrayer's EP release show, with each entrant receiving a copy of the band's debut EP, Desolate for free!

Friday - 1.23.15
Doors: 6pm
Show: 7pm
Admission: $10 in advance - $12 at door (for advanced tickets contact one of the supporting bands or head to the Facebook event)

Tyler Konersman, middle, vocalist for Tear Out the Heart

The Main Street Cafe (TMSC): What’s your name and role in the band?

Tyler Konersman (TK): Tyler Konersman. Lead vocalist and lyricist.

TMSC: For those who don’t know, can you give a brief rundown on who Tear Out the Heart is?

TK: 5 very random but honest dudes that love to play music. We all come from very different backgrounds and that's what makes Tear Out The Heart unique.

TMSC: Want to say a bit about the tour?

TK: Its a short little run in midwest cities to help get the word out there on our new record. Mostly smaller rooms. Gonna be a blast!

TMSC: What motivates you when you write this music and play these songs live?

TK: Hearing stories of how our music has helped them at all in life is always a rewarding experience. For me, it's all about hearing people yell our lyrics right back in my face when we play shows. Nothing compares.

TMSC: Will this be your first time passing through this area of West Virginia?

TK: Yes I believe so! Have toured all around the area but look forward to finally making our stop there!

TMSC: Who would your hardcore all-star supergroup consist of?

Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) - Vocals
Darryl Palumbo (Glassjaw) - Vocals
Chad Gilbert (New Found Glory) - Guitar / Backing Vocals
Timothy McTague (Underoath) - Guitar
Me - Bass Lol
Joey Jordanson (Slipknot) - Drums

TMSC: Finally, what can fans expect from this show and what do you expect from us Clarksburg-ians?

TK: They can expect going home with a smile on their face and having a damn good time. We plan on bringing all the energy we can, we hope you do the same!

Be sure to catch Tear Out the Heart and the rest of the acts this Friday at 7pm!
